Glass Beads are a type of abrasive media that gently cleans metal items while leaving a smooth matte finish that does not scratch the surface.

Glass beads are a round abrasive media for removing burrs, corrosion, paint, dust, grease, and carbon buildup. Soft metals are honed and polished using it as well. Aluminum, brass, cast iron, plastics, woods, and fiberglass are some of the common surfaces on which Glass Beads are utilized. Glass beads are made from melted raw glass cullet, and the spherical beads are created naturally during the cooling process. Glass Beads are the abrasive of choice for usage in delicate work circumstances since they are filtered and screened into tight tolerances after being manufactured. Round Glass Beads are ideally used in blast cabinets and sand blast rooms since they recycle 4-6 times.

Fine Glass Bead

Lead-free soda lime-type glass with no free silica is used to make fine glass beads, which are subsequently molded into preformed ball figures. When correctly calibrated, glass beads are an effective way of metal cleaning or external finishing because they are chemically stable and environmentally beneficial. Glass beads are frequently used in the external impact treatment. Their spherical shape and chemical world provide them with a wide range of characteristics.

Sand Blasting Machine, shot blasting, peening, surface finishing, deburring, and metal cleaning are all possible with Glass Bead.

Glass Beads Abrasive Media

Glass Bead Abrasive Media recyclability makes it a cost-effective choice to remove many different types of surface imperfections, including burrs, rust, paint removal while maintaining the surface easiness of your workpiece.

Unlike other abrasives, the micro glass beads media does not remove the metal base, does not contaminate the surface treated, and does not leave incrustations, resulting in a good superficial finish.

Uses of Glass Bead Abrasive

  • Cleaning and pollutant removal
  • Decorative finishing
  • Engravings
  • Shot peening

Cleaning and removal

The cleaning process is carried out by a forceful pressure on the surface, which removes all impurities without harming the metal basis.

It does not rip off the covering and metal base as if it were a cutting tool because Round Glass Bead is spherical and lacks edges and rims. As a result, shot blasting with glass beads for sale is still permitted in circumstances where tight dimensional tolerances are required.

Decorative finishing

The dull finish created by shot blasting with glass beads on steel, aluminium, stainless steel, brass, tin, acrylic, plastic, and other materials is truly unique, adding value to the object.

In general, large-diameter glass beads are used to provide a finish with deep grain and a dull surface; on the other hand, smaller-diameter glass beads produce a finer and duller finish.

Engraving

The difference between the zones that have not been treated (shiny) and the zones that have been shot blasted produces the engraving that is done by shot blasting machine (dull). Because of the low abrasiveness of glass beads, these engravings are usually done with masks manufactured specifically for this purpose. Although other abrasives can be used, glass beads ensure a superb finish and a significantly longer lifetime for the masks employed.

Shot Peening

It's the result of a fast-moving stream of spherical particles compacting a metallic surface. Because of the plastic deformation caused by the hammering motion (peening), the surface is crushed, resulting in compression stresses parallel to the surface ranging from 5 to 10 mils (thousandths of an inch) in depth.

Glass Bead Peening effect is used in gears, axles, springs, rods, and other components that are subjected to flexion forces that create traction forces on the surface.

Applications of Glass Beads

  • Automotive restitution
  • Polishing Castings
  • Stainless Steel production

Benefits of Glass Beads

  • The Surface of a part can be cleaned proficiently without removing metal
  • Deburring, cleaning, finishing, and peening can be performed in one operation
  • Time & cost saving
  • Environment-friendly
  • Chemically static – no ferrous or other leftover contaminants
  • Gives a clean and controlled finish on a variety of metals
